Blis Festival of Media Golden Shaker winners crowned in Rome
Blis’ Golden Shaker competitions represent class, sophistication and an appreciation for the finer things in life.
They bring together media agency and digital advertising executives from around the world and tap into their creative minds, to develop the most impressive and innovative new cocktails imaginable.
Mixing it up
Ten teams entered the competition from the digital and media world, including MediaCom, Teads, OmnicomMediaGroup, Rocket Fuel, OpenX and OMD. Each with one goal in mind – to win the Blis 2016 Festival of Media Golden Shaker Award!
The teams were given an opportunity to create and perfect their masterpiece during the welcome drinks reception at the Festival of Media Global in Rome last week – an event located in the glamorous Cavalieri Hotel, overlooking the Eternal City.
Each team was carefully guided with assistance from the hotel barmen. We saw a multitude of different recipes as teams tried and tasted all the spirits and combinations possible to find that one gem that could secure them the ‘Golden Shaker’ title.
The grand final
The next evening, it was time for the much-awaited Golden Shaker Grand Final, based on the top three selections chosen by our esteemed judges: Heineken’s Gregory Kukoej, Omnicom’s Barry Cupples, Blis’ Harry Dewhirst, and FoM organiser CSquared’s Charlie Crowe. Our expert judging panel tried every drink on the night and points were awarded based on the cocktail’s creativity and overall presentation and taste sensation.
The winning cocktail would be served to over 200 guests attending the Blis-sponsored ‘Happy Hour’ reception.
And the winner is…
The competitive nature of the events created fun, laughter and lots of surprises. Aside from the main prize, there were some notable individual achievements, including the infamous Blis Bomb – a heady concoction designed by Ben Phillips of MediaCom, Thibaut Vanderhofstadt from Sortlist, and Michael Smith from Cheetah Mobile.
In the end, however, there could only be one winner and the Golden Shaker was awarded to the team representing Inneractive, OpenX and InkPact for their gin-inspired “Passionista”, a masterpiece filled full of fruity flavours – a crowd favourite!
Congratulations to all of the teams and participants involved. Eyes are now firmly set on the next Blis Golden Shaker competition – coming to an event near you in 2016!
